Yesterday I passed with a score of 1000/1000. Here are some of my suggestions to passing this exam:
1.Please make a note of all the trouble tickets on the laminated paper provide. Cross out as you begin answering the tickets, it makes it a lot easier.
2.Client 1 and client 2 will always have IP address, but for 2 trouble tickets they will have an ip address on 169.x.x.x – you will then know that this is either relating to switchport vlan 10 or switchport trunk and the problem will then be located on ASW1.
3.The majority of questions are phrased with “ client 1 cannot reach the web server” the only question that is specific is the question related to HSRP.
4.All questions are not in sequence as it is in this website, my first question was Vlan filter – I wasted a lot of time on my 1st question, even though I could see the problem, I was mis lead by the answer they had in the MCQ for the solution – the answer is not remove the vlan filter test 1, it is a permit statement for vlan 10 that is missing. I cannot remember the IP, but it will make sense. Another way to confirm you are choosing the right answer is, for example: Ticket 1, you know you have to remove the vlan filter test 1, so you can ABORT the ticket, move on to ticket 2, check the config on DSW1 and you will see that the “vlan filter test 1” statement has been removed. Then ABORT ticket 2, move back to ticket 1 and choose the correct answer. I used the abort button a lot, to confirm my answers.
5.The TT relating to R1 ACL is not Access-list 30, it is a security Access-list, this was ticket 11, ticket 12 was related to IPv6 ospf – I did not have enough time to complete this question, but fortunately for me it was not scored.
6.The config on the switches and routers will be the same, the only config that will be missing is what you need to add for that specific trouble ticket, so another way of finding the answer is process of elimination, but I would start on the device the ping stopped.
7. make a note of which interface is missing specific config, it will make the process of elimination a lot quicker.
Please do not JUST memorize the question and answers, please understand what you are doing. In the exam, each ticket has a specific problem, we are not given a hint of what the problem is from the question, you will have to troubleshoot that. Commands that will be most useful will be “ping” – as simple as that. And the 1st step with each TT, is to check the IP address of client 1 and client 2 do an “ipconfig”. You will also use – “show ip route” and “sh run”
This website is spot on, with the TT. But bear in mind that Cisco does phrase the answers in their own way, so I stress please understand what you are doing. I have to admit I did not have a lab to work with, I studied the config. I would off been more quick if I had worked with the lab prior to the exam.
The pass mark is 790, there are 37Q that are counted, however the total paper is 3MCQ, 1 DnD and 36Q(TT) = 40 MCQ, keep in mind that 3 questions are not scored.
Hope this helps, and good luck…
