  • Three Host PC have ip addresses 10.0.0.1/8, 172.16.0.1/16 and 192.168.0.1/24

    Three Host PC have ip addresses 10.0.0.1/8, 172.16.0.1/16 and 192.168.0.1/24. if i connect all of them using a layer 2 switch, will they ping with each other ?

    it's impossible because 3 Host PC are belong 3 different network

      have you tried them on a real lab yet?

        Switch delivery packet by Mac address so we cannot use a layer 2 switch.

        You can add a static route on the PCs for testing.

          Yes I have. Actually it works!

          For those who don't believe, try to setup your real lab and set IP address the same value as default gateway. You'll be very surprised!

              the result may varies which depend on differences OS (Xp,win7) or enabled FIREWALL.. this question was asked during an interview.
